We are recruiting on behalf of our North Herefordshire client who are offering a fantastic opportunity to train with a team of skilled engineers on a full time and permanent basis. This Trainee Engineer role involves the inspection, maintenance, and refurbishment of vital equipment across the country.

The successful candidate will work alongside the foreman and team to learn the necessary skills to maintain the high standard consistently shown by our client.

Duties:

  • To work under the supervision of a foreman and the management, undertaking duties and tasks required for carrying out the role of an engineer
  • Work in accordance with company processes and procedures
  • Work responsibly, and within Health & Safety legislation, and to the company Safety Plan, ensuring your own safety as well as the safety of others
  • Be an active member of the company safety team attending bi-annual meetings and regular toolbox talks
  • To have a full understanding of all risk and method statements specific to each task, and to work to them accordingly
  • Completion of all of your own accountancy paperwork including expenses and timesheets
  • When travelling nationally or internationally use any motor vehicle you are charged with responsibly and within the law
  • Assist with the completion of contracts to a satisfactory standard as determined by the company
  • Wear the correct PPE to safely carry out the works

Key Skills & Requirements:

  • To effectively communicate in person and in writing
  • Be presentable and courteous at all times
  • To be able to use initiative to respond independently to problems and unexpected situations
  • To be competent in the use of all tools including power tools
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • To be confident in working at height and inside confined spaces
  • The following training will be given:
    • First Aid
    • Confined Space
    • Working at Height
    • IPAF (International Powered Access Federation)
    • PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers’ Association)
    • Ladder User & Inspector

Working away all week, some weekend work. Accommodation paid for. £25.00 night out allowance (£12.50 if back in one day)
